ColdFront Comin’…

It’s been warm…

It’s been Spring…

But winter…

Still has a little gas in the tank…

Cold’s comin’ in…

For a few nights…

Some wooden pegs can help…

Stuck in the soil…

They will help to hold the sheets…

Up off the tender young plants…

Some old sheets…

Are draped over the plants…

And more scrap wood…

Weighs them down…

To hold against the wind…

These Fronts can Howl…

What we’re tryin’ to do…

Is to trap the Natural Heat…

That rises from the soil…

And make the pressin’ cold…

Roll off the sheets…

To gain a few precious degrees…

Around the young plants…

And stave off the freezin’ air…

It worked…

As the Sun rises…

And things warm up…

Roll the sheets back…

To let Plants and Soil…

Bathe in the Solar Heat…

Water a bit…

Early in the Day…

To help the Soil…

Hold more Heat later on…

My Favorite waterin’ nozzle…

Colorado Fan Spray…

Or, just Fan Spray…

It’s cheap and effective…

Close the valve a bit…

To prevent blastin’ the Plants and Soil…

If you point the nozzle…

Horizontal to the ground…

Back off the valve…

Until the water falls about 1-2 feet out from the nozzle…

Move your hand back and forth as you water…

Like makin’ popcorn, old school way…

The water will fall gently…

And from all angles…

To water thoroughly…

But not wash things away…

Safe from the chill…

Sunny and Watered…
